Interviews - Fromm x Yang x Delayne
What do Erich Fromm, Andrew Yang and Lacey Delayne have in common? Well. Let me tell you.
In 2018, Delayne found out about an Asian guy named Andrew Yang…who was running for President on the idea of a Universal Basic Income.
It happened via Twitter. Seeing him as a candidate running on Universal Basic Income intrigued her. She then watched a long form episode of Andrew Yang being interviewed on the Joe Rogan Podcast, and later read his book, The War on Normal People. After hearing his logic at length, she felt moved to participate in getting the word out about him. That began her journey as a passionate volunteer.
She became a local volunteer, leading Atlanta’s Yang supporter group. She organized 45 events in the Atlanta area to get the word out about Andrew Yang and collaborated with his then very small campaign team to plan a rally for him at Piedmont Park. A few months later, she became a traveling staff person on his 2020 Presidential Campaign.
After the campaign ended, and the Coronavirus lockdown of 2020 began, Delayne, with a friend from her philosophy group and a fellow Atlanta Yang Gang volunteer, started a podcast. It would be the foundation and springboard for the later launch of the Fromm Daily Podcast.
Before that, though, there were multiple important podcast & YouTube interviews about Yang and her journey alongside him that prepared her for today’s projects. If it wasn’t for the journey with Yang, and the previous podcast she began, there would be no Fromm Daily.
And, it’s worth noting that the motivation behind Delayne’s great support for Yang was the similarity of his ideas to those of Erich Fromm.
